Сүүлийн үед хар цохны идэвхжил, олширолт, нүүдэлтэй холбоотойгоор иргэдээс ирэх мэдээлэл, дуудлага ихсэх төлөвтэй байна. Монгол оронд 2000 орчим зүйл цох байдгаас хамгийн өргөн тархсан нь жийгээ, буглаа, шүрэн, эвэрт цохнууд юм. Цох нь ямар нэгэн халдварт өвчний холбогдолгүй боловч зуны улиралд орой, шөнийн цагаар идэвхжиж орон байранд орох, улмаар унтаж байх үед хүний чих, хамар, ам руу орсон тохиолдлууд эмнэлгийн байгууллагад цөөнгүй бүртгэгдсэн байдаг. 
Мөн бусад цохноос жийгээ буюу монголчуудын нэрлэдэгээр зуудаг хар цох хүн хаздаг.
Цох нь орчны тааламжгүй нөхцлөөс шалтгаалан олноороо нэг газраас нөгөө газарт шилжин нүүдэлдэг онцлогтой.
